Social media, especially Instagram, has had a profound impact on how poetry is created, shared and experienced. As a result, the art form has become less niche and more accessible to a wider audience. But how do you reach that audience without losing the deeper cultural experience?

Poetry Pal is an AI-powered guide that makes poetry accessible and meaningful to a broad audience. The app unlocks a collection of over 38,000 poems, translations and audio and video recordings from 600 poets, and offers personalized recommendations based on factors such as mood, location and current events. Poetry Pal engages users in conversations, learns their preferences, and deepens their appreciation of poetry. In doing so, it strengthens the online presence of Poetry International and connects a growing community of poetry lovers.

Poetry Pal isn’t just an app, it’s a conversation partner: an advanced chatbot that speaks with you. The more you interact, the better it gets to know you. Over time, it offers increasingly personal recommendations, tuned to the moment: the season, your location, the time of day, the weather or even current events. The guide uses artificial intelligence, fed by Poetry International’s digital archive and other literary sources. A special language model makes the conversation feel like a true dialogue.

Every year, the archive attracts more than 600,000 visitors. Thanks to the integration of different digital environments in an open source CMS, the archive can be searched and connected in a smart and contextual way. Thus, this literary heritage is made accessible in a personal, interactive environment that moves with the use and behaviour of a new digital audience.
