<p>The Central Archive for Special Jurisdiction (CABR) is the largest Dutch archive on World War II. It holds 3.8 kilometers of files, over 30 million pages, on individuals suspected or accused of collaborating with the German occupiers. How do you address such a sensitive topic that has long been taboo, in a way that allows for a nuanced conversation between the descendants of perpetrators and victims?</p>
<h3><b>Result</b></h3>
<p>With the Oorlog voor de Rechter project, more than 425,000 files are being made available online. Through smart technology, careful design, and historical context, the archive becomes a nuanced resource that does not judge but provides insight. The platform connects information from the Netherlands’ most important war archive and passes it on to future generations, enabling continued discovery, understanding, storytelling, and learning from the past.</p>

The Ocean Cleanup

Engaging different audiences towards a global cleanup

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>How do you keep people engaged once the initial buzz has worn off? Almost everyone knows about The Ocean Cleanup and their ambitious mission to remove 90% of all floating waste from the oceans by 2040. To achieve this goal, it is essential to involve various target groups in the project and ensure that attention to the mission is maintained until the goal is met. As a design partner, Norday helps The Ocean Cleanup keep the global community engaged with innovative digital products.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>We developed a website that serves as both a powerful business platform, raising over €35 million, and an effective tool for the broader community. The website needed to engage multiple target groups, from donors to specialists. To achieve this, we built dashboards that visually present complex data in an attractive and understandable way. This allows the public to follow the progress of the cleanup operations in real-time, creating a sense of transparency and involvement. We also created research pages that encourage specialists to contribute their skills to the mission. Additionally, we built a robust technical infrastructure capable of handling media attention without slowing down the website or increasing CO2 emissions, ensuring an always accessible message, even during major events and launches. The website has won various awards, including Webby Awards and European Design Awards.</p>


Wondercast

Hyper-personalised culture podcasts with AI

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>Cultural experiences like concerts and theater performances can be deeply moving and inspiring. Yet for those attending such an event for the first time, the threshold can be high. After all, what should you expect? Even when trailers, introductions, or podcasts are available, they often assume some prior knowledge or they remain too general to truly connect with each individual’s experience. This “preparation gap” prevents many (new) audience members from fully engaging with a live performance. At the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, for instance, only 8.5% of first-time visitors return, even though 47% of their audience are first-timers &#8211; a common challenge in the performing arts. A key part of their retention strategy, therefore, is to ensure that newcomers feel more gently welcomed into the concert hall.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The more you know, the more fun and richer your cultural experience becomes. That&#8217;s why we developed Wondercast: an AI-powered tool that creates a personalized podcast for every cultural visitor. This helps people prepare for what they’re about to see, hear, and feel so they can get the most out of the experience. In doing so, new audiences are offered a more meaningful introduction to the arts, increasing the likelihood they’ll come back.</p>


Onsland.nl

Data-driven storytelling about the colonial past

<h4>Challenge</h4>
<p>When discussing the period around the Second World War, the shared history of the Netherlands and Indonesia often remains overlooked. Yet there is a wealth of digital heritage available, from archival material to objects and personal records. How can we make these sources digitally accessible in a way that helps the communities involved better understand their own (family) stories, while also offering the wider public deeper insight into the colonial history of the Netherlands?</p>
<h4>Result</h4>
<p>Onsland.nl is the platform where historical and heritage information about the shared Dutch-Indonesian past is brought together. Thanks to an extensive network of participating heritage institutions, museums and archives, visitors can access more than 250,000 sources, including data, documents, timelines, maps, detailed and personal stories (oral history). In doing so, Onsland.nl contributes to the collective recognition of this complex history.</p>


Poetry Pal

Poetry inspiration matching your mood

<p><strong>Challenge</strong><br />
Poetry is perhaps the art form most capable of challenging, connecting and inspiring action. At the same time, reading habits have shifted significantly in recent years: poetry is increasingly moving into the digital realm. Social media, especially Instagram, has had a profound impact on how poetry is created, shared and experienced. As a result, the art form has become less niche and more accessible to a wider audience. But how do you reach that audience without losing the deeper cultural experience?</p>
<p><strong>Result</strong><br />
Poetry Pal is an AI-powered guide that makes poetry accessible and meaningful to a broad audience. The app unlocks a collection of over 38,000 poems, translations and audio and video recordings from 600 poets, and offers personalized recommendations based on factors such as mood, location and current events. Poetry Pal engages users in conversations, learns their preferences, and deepens their appreciation of poetry. In doing so, it strengthens the online presence of Poetry International and connects a growing community of poetry lovers.</p>

Design towards future-proof elderly care

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Healthcare is under pressure, and the demand for (complex) care will only increase in the future. Thebe, a healthcare organization, aims to lead in innovating and transforming how we provide and organize care. How do we keep healthcare accessible for those who truly need it? How do we ensure that citizens are as self-reliant as possible and that the use of professional care is as meaningful as possible?</span></p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Together with Thebe, we developed a vision for the future: Thebe focuses entirely on intensive, essential care, with the principles of &#8216;self&#8217;, &#8216;home&#8217;, and &#8216;technology&#8217;. Since 2023, we have been working in design sprints with employees, clients, and the chain to create new concepts for care. We focus on the interplay between informal carers, volunteers, technology, and digital assistants. The focus is on letting go of tasks that do not fall under essential care and scaling up innovation. With this approach, we make the big challenges manageable and accelerate change; resulting in greater self-reliance for clients and higher job satisfaction for employees.</span><b> </b></p>


Gemeente Amsterdam: Schoolwijzer

An inclusive platform for equal opportunities for children

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>Children rely on their parents or guardians to choose a suitable daycare or school. This can be a significant challenge for some parents because they are unfamiliar with the school system and may face barriers due to their educational level or cultural background. To combat inequality, it is crucial that all parents can find and understand the right information. Therefore, the municipality of Amsterdam asked Norday to develop an accessible digital platform that provides clear information about the registration process, the school system, and school performance.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The Schoolwijzer website is user-friendly and accessible, ensuring no one is excluded based on skills or background. Government sites often overwhelm users by presenting all information at once, causing users to lose track, especially if they are not used to such texts.</p>
<p>To understand the needs of our target audience, we conducted user research. This revealed that a balance is needed between explaining and omitting information. Therefore, the page only shows the information relevant to the current step.</p>
<p>Through interim quick scans and audits, we ensured accessibility at every step on the website. And successfully: 25% of all Amsterdam residents use Schoolwijzer, which is twice the number of school-going children in Amsterdam.</p>


Stichting WO2Net

The stories from World War II up close

<h3><strong>Challenge</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are fewer and fewer eyewitnesses of World War II who can still share their stories. That is why Stichting WO2Net wants to make the scattered sources from World War II more digitally accessible and usable. The stories hidden in archives are also incredibly interesting for current generations. By digitising and sharing these, Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen wants to ensure that the lessons from World War II remain a moral compass for the future.</span></p>
<h3><strong>Result </strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oorlogsbronnen.nl connects and provides context to more than 12.5 million sources by linking them to events, places, people and themes, and presenting them in a narrative way. The platform is almost entirely data-driven, using data to generate rich content pages with meaningful interconnections. This allows the vast amount of data to be processed, making the platform flexible and future-proof. The context provided for stories, events, and objects brings World War II close.</span></p>


Cordaan

Matching the right care to the needs of 20.000 Amsterdam citizens

<h4>The challenge</h4>
<p>The healthcare sector must change rapidly. As the population ages, the demand for appropriate care is increasing, while there is a shortage of staff and resources. Cordaan, the largest healthcare organisation in Amsterdam, is facing this challenge. With 20,000 clients, each with unique care needs, the challenge is to efficiently guide these clients to the right teams for their specific care requirements. The new website needed to address this challenge while also reflecting Cordaan&#8217;s positioning.</p>
<h4><b>The result</b></h4>
<p>Through the new website, clients immediately understand where to go with their specific care needs and what services they can expect. With a carefully planned UX design, we present the most important information as clearly as possible, gradually introducing complexity only when necessary. Support is just one click away for all Amsterdam residents, including groups like caregivers, whose roles are expected to grow in the coming years.</p>


Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

Iconic style, intuive museum website experience

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is renowned for its uniqueness, creativity, and playfulness. Our task? To create a new website &#8220;unlike any other museum website.&#8221; Together with the museum, we embraced a significant challenge: an artistic statement and a radically different website that remains accessible to everyone. How can one be both &#8216;distinctive&#8217; and &#8216;unconventional&#8217; without losing accessibility? We found the sweet spot in translating brutalism to the web and focusing on intuitive mobile-first design.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>A bold statement that logically translates the museum&#8217;s typographic style and gives the museum a strong identity that is both commercially and artistically important. An intuitive and inclusive design puts the user first. Despite its original design and flexibility, this website from 2017 still feels brand new. A central search function enhances user convenience. Visitors can intuitively navigate and swipe through the museum&#8217;s collections. The chosen technology is the silent power behind the website. We created a super flexible content platform that can easily connect to new ticketing or data systems. Recently, we also quickly added the &#8216;campaign tag&#8217; Unbubble.</p>


A timeless icon with quirky style and intuitive design

Fastned

From start-up to scale-up with strategic design

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>Fastned, the market leader in electric fast-charging stations, evolved from a startup to a scale-up, aiming to create an extensive European network of fast-charging stations. However, in 2015, Fastned operated in a time when electric driving was not yet commonplace. Success required trust from governments and investors, as well as attracting users and competing with large players like Shell. Fastned enlisted Norday as a partner to support them through each phase of their growth. This included refining strategies for different growth stages. The challenge was how to turn market interest into growth.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>Entering the European market required a strategy focused on developing a recognisable brand that embodies Fastned&#8217;s core values. In 2015, we started with a professional website, emphasizing building trust with governments and investors. The focus was on alleviating uncertainties about fast charging. Around 2020, market awareness of the potential of electric driving increased. From that point, the priority was to leverage this market interest for growth. This led to the launch of Fastned Bonds, a user-friendly shares platform. Raising over €256 million in new capital enabled the expansion of Fastned&#8217;s network across Europe.</p>

Solar Monkey

New branding, growth success for solar software company

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>Solar Monkey is the Dutch market leader in software that makes the installation of solar panels faster and more efficient for installers. This software is known for its user-friendliness, even for people who are less digitally skilled. This contributes to its accessibility and broad usability. To enter the European market with a new positioning and branding to profile itself as a premium B2B brand, Solar Monkey sought support from Norday. An important insight from market research and workshops with the client is that tech acceptance and working with digital products are not at the same high level across Europe as they are in the Netherlands. Adjusting to the different markets requires flexibility in strategy, with a suitable story for each market.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The new branding and positioning for Solar Monkey focus on accessibility and a premium appearance. A flexible content matrix allows for a tailored story for each market. The new iconic visual style is based on an abstract version of a solar panel. The style is also sustainable, containing no ‘flashy’ time-sensitive elements, allowing Solar Monkey to use it for many years. The style enhances the accessible look with an asymmetrical typeface, illustrations, and photographs of professionals in action. This new brand identity has helped Solar Monkey establish a strong position in the European market, making it distinctive yet accessible.</p>

Museum Boijmans van Beuningen

The ultimate digital art guide

<h3>Challenge<span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is the first publicly accessible art depot, located next to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. It is the first building in the world to open an entire art collection to the public while also showcasing the behind-the-scenes operations of a museum. How do you allow the public to experience 270,000 works without the intervention of a curator? We designed an app as the ultimate digital art guide.</span></p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are no labels next to the works in the depot, but the app provides essential information about tens of thousands of artworks. Many pieces have interactive stories, featuring facts, trivia, photos, videos, audio, and quizzes. This encourages visitors to engage actively with the art. The app saves the artworks in a collection, turning the visitor into an art collector and keeping the inspiring Boijmans collection always at hand!</span></p>


NPO Kennis

A snackable knowledge platform

<h3><b>Challenge</b></h3>
<p>People in the Netherlands aged 18 to 40 search online for knowledge and trivia an average of three times a day. However, not everything found online is true. The NPO is the largest provider of audiovisual informative and educational material in the Netherlands. It&#8217;s a significant qualitative source of knowledge, with a wealth of relevant content. The challenge was to develop a user-friendly platform for a diverse audience, where the public can find answers to their questions and spark curiosity about other topics.</p>
<h3><b>Result</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With the new platform, NPO Kennis reaches a young audience in the way they are accustomed to. In times of misinformation, Stories are used as a counterbalance with snackable content across all channels. Each Story Card is a piece of infotainment enriched with videos, images, animations and interaction, designed by the NTR editorial team. This way, the NPO reaches their audience with journalistic content on the topics that matter to them.</span></p>

Regional healthcare networks

Design thinking for healthcare transformation

<h3><b>Challenge</b></h3>
<p>Healthcare is under pressure: the demand for care is increasing, while the number of caregivers is decreasing. To ensure that everyone who needs it can get (home) care, we need to radically redesign care. This requires a shift in roles for clients, informal caregivers, professionals, specialists, and insurers. This can only be achieved if we form a shared vision of the desired situation and focus on the care activities where professionals from organizations like Thebe see the greatest potential for improvement. But how do we design and implement new customer journeys from all these perspectives?</p>
<h3><b>Result</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We increase the quality of life and drastically reduce the demand for care: in the Midden-Brabant region, 120 care hours per day are now saved on administering eye drops, and half an hour per client per day on compression stockings. In active co-creation with healthcare professionals from across the care chain, we develop new customer journeys where citizens are as self-reliant as possible and healthcare professionals can use their time most effectively. We develop a toolbox with communication, instruction material and practical tools for implementation. This allows the new customer journey to get off to a flying start across the entire region, quickly delivering concrete results.</span></p>


Rijksoverheid: Waarzitwatin

Aligning three ministries, companies and consumers

<h2>Challenge</h2>
<p>European regulations require a central point with reliable information about chemicals in consumer products. The challenge lies in bringing together public and private parties, such as manufacturers, consumer organisations, and the government, because there are often conflicting interests. Norday has developed a platform that connects consumers to valuable, reliable information about chemicals in an accessible and understandable way.</p>
<h2>Result</h2>
<p>Through a co-creation study, we first mapped out the common interests from the stakeholders. We used Human-Centered Design, such as working with focus groups and field research, to understand how and when consumers use the website. This revealed that consumers consult the website after incidents involving chemicals. These types of user scenarios are important for structuring the website. Ensuring accessibility for everyone is crucial, which is why we have achieved a WCAG 2.1 AA rating A. We also improved the website&#8217;s SEO by designing its structure and content to be optimised for search engines. This is vital to help users quickly and effectively find answers. This approach has paid off, with at least 50% of users finding the website through Google.</p>

Citycard as fun expert

<h3><b>Challenge</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With the Rotterdampas, you can enjoy the best activities in and around Rotterdam for free or at a discount. Rotterdampas does this with special attention for people for whom this is less obvious, without stigmatizing them. But how do you make this pass so attractive that everyone wants it? We helped Rotterdampas position itself as the &#8216;Fun Expert,&#8217; encouraging more people to discover their neighborhood and city in a positive way.</span></p>
<h3><b>Result</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rotterdampas has grown into the largest, most used, and highest-rated citycard in the Netherlands, with over 225,000 cardholders. With an outdoor campaign, website, app, magazine and social media channels, we developed a cross-media platform that ensures maximum enjoyment in your own city. Each medium has its role and contributes to the overall experience, with the app at its core. By now, 1 in 4 poeple from Rotterdam own the pass and more than a million Rotterdampas activities are undertaken. Additionally, over 95% of the available credit for minima has been spent in over 270,000 transactions.</span></p>

Digital strategy with expert focus

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 6,000 professionals at Royal HaskoningDHV work in more than 140 countries on sustainable solutions for the future. They combine their expertise as engineers, designers and consultants with software and technology. A successful formula in which the professionals themselves are the greatest ambassadors.. How do you ensure that the insights of these professionals and their successful projects attract new clients and talents through digital channels?</span></p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Together with TwentySeven, our Sitecore partner within Handpicked, we developed a new digital strategy that puts the expertise of the people at Royal HaskoningDHV at the forefront. The new corporate website is the heart of the completely renewed customer approach; initial contact is made via LinkedIn and the platform through content and the shared sustainable ambitions of potential clients. The result is a drastically improved performance while maintaining a consistent brand experience at every touchpoint, perfectly aligned with the employer brand.</span></p>

<p>The audience of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra consists of a loyal group of traditional concertgoers. A younger, more diverse crowd usually doesn’t attend their concerts, but when they do, they are positively surprised by the experience – this orchestra makes waves! How can you attract new audiences in the Netherlands to attend the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra&#8217;s concerts, without alienating the most loyal classical music lovers?</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The new digital experience captivates a new audience, while serving the traditional one with intuitive flows full of depth. Wonder, as a service! The new platform is at the heart of the brand and digital strategy, impressing users with visuals, design and sound. The orchestra is now found by all visitors: loyal classical music fans and the curious (often younger) generation. Online, of course, but more importantly: at the live concerts!</p>

Interactive Galery of Honour actively engages visitors

<h3><b>Challenge</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gallery of Dutch Photography</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is an exhibition at the Nederlands Fotomuseum. Ninety-nine iconic photos tell the story of the development of photography in the Netherlands. These images immerse you in the history of photography and encourage you to see the world in a new way. How do you turn the visitor into an active participant in the exhibition?</span></p>
<h3><b>Result</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the museum we worked together with Kummer &amp; Herrman to come up with the innovative concept for the exhibition. The Galery of Honour holds 99 distinctive photos, but one spot has purposely been left blank. In the app we developed, visitors discover why a work deserves a place in the Galery of Honour through images and audio, highlighting the work from the perspectives of artists, writers, activists, and photographers. Crucially, the app allows visitors to make their own selection, deciding which photo is the most influential. This chosen photo completes their personal Galery of Honour: 99+1.</span></p>


The Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions

AI creates greener and cycle-friendly streets

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>Cycling is good for your health and the environment. The Netherlands has therefore put the bicycle at the center of its plans for a climate-neutral future. The Netherlands Board of Tourism &amp; Conventions (NBTC) has the ambition to inspire cities worldwide to follow the Netherlands&#8217; example and create more space for bicycle-friendly environments, to promote sustainable and healthy mobility.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>To inspire the world, we have developed an AI tool to help people see in mere seconds what their cities could look like if they were designed for pedestrians and cyclists rather than cars. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), Google Streetview and the knowledge of Dutch cycling experts, people worldwide have the opportunity to add a touch of the Dutch cycling landscape to their own living environment.</p>

World Benchmarking Alliance

Achieving sustainable development goals by making data accessible

<p><strong>Challenge </strong><br />
Nike “smashes stereotypes” in their campaigns, but did you know they rank below Amazon on the Gender benchmark from the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA)? Most companies don’t share CSR data in an accessible way, which makes it hard to check their claims and policies. By ranking the SDG performance of different sustainability benchmarks for 2000 of the most influential companies in the world, WBA turns data into a powerful tool for change. Our challenge? To make complex research data accessible, transparent and relevant to a wide audience. As well as getting companies to compete for the best ranking and… just do it! (but for real this time).</p>
<p><strong>Result</strong><br />
We jointly developed a data transparency platform, using data visualisations and clearly structured information to make the benchmarks accessible and relevant to a wide audience. Big goals to change the world get divided into smaller steps that earn a company ranking points. WBA’s biggest value lies in its research: that is why data is imported automatically from its headless database, making it impossible for editors to make mistakes. A modular backend ensures flexibility and scalability. The business-like brand design underscores the neutrality and authority of WBA’s research, resulting in a platform motivating companies to change at every turn.</p>


PowerGo

A strong brand for electric mobility

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>Helping businesses transition to electric mobility! PowerGo challenged us with ambitious growth targets. With clients like HelloFresh, Jumbo and Basic Fit already proving their success, we collaborated to build a solid brand and compelling narrative for communications and marketing. The objective: growth towards a broader audience, with a B2B proposition for fleet charging and offering charging points to consumers.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The new PowerGo brand has a strong distinctive quality with a premium feel. The tagline &#8220;powering you forward&#8221; demonstrates ambition and character, activated through a flexible copy concept across multiple channels. The visual style works effectively across physical and digital touchpoints, breaking away from the clichés of lime green plugs and blue lightning bolts in the EV market. Through co-creation sessions, we involved team members, generating organization-wide enthusiasm for the outcome. PowerGo is now ready to realise their ambitions with a strong brand that&#8217;s as reliable and innovative as their charging solutions.</p>

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>The creative industry can accelerate significantly when business, education, and science better connect. The Centre of Expertise, Creative Innovation (CoECI) works toward this goal as the premier Dutch impact network for research-driven design. CoECI organizes events, shares knowledge, and brings people together to stimulate innovation. However, despite numerous activities and an extensive network, CoECI&#8217;s energy and connecting character weren&#8217;t effectively conveyed in their communications.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>We delivered a strong integrated identity that aligns with who they are: creative, connecting, transparent, and leading-edge. A comprehensive toolkit with website, content strategy, and visual identity enables them to tell their story effectively.</p>

Pop venue of the future

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From the city of Eindhoven, Effenaar aims to position itself as the pop venue of the future. Significant strides have been made in recent years with projects like The Sessions, Hybrid Music Vibes and the Effenaar Makerspace. We developed a website that informs, excites and engages the audience while also serving as a platform for the Effenaar Makerspace and the artists it collaborates with.</span></p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The new website positions the Effenaar as a leading pop venue and forward-thinking musical platform. Visitors not only discover new music but are inspired to become &#8216;makers&#8217; themselves. The improved event calendar simplifies ticket sales, while visual storytelling showcases what’s happening. Visitors can contribute ideas and participate in shaping the program. The physical stage has gained a virtual counterpart: Spaces. This makes the Effenaar the first pop venue to also offer a digital stage for artists, technological innovations, and musical experiments.</p>

The quiet revolution in aviation

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>The aviation industry faces a crucial sustainability challenge. While options like reducing air travel or adopting electric flights exist, there is an urgent need for solutions that can make an immediate impact using the existing infrastructure. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) offers such a solution. As a certified B-Corp, the scale-up SkyNRG produces and certifies this synthetic kerosine while taking a leading role in knowledge-sharing and guiding the transition to SAF.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>The complex landscape in which SkyNRG operates – with stakeholders ranging from corporate clients and airlines to consumers and policymakers – required a clear communication strategy. By drastically simplifying the brand and channel strategy and combining it with a strong visual identity, we created a distinctive B2B brand. This comes together in a new website that effectively serves all target groups with a clear message: SAF is a crucial step towards a more sustainable aviation industry.</p>


Melkweg

Cultural icon in transition

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>How do you maintain a clear identity as a Dutch cultural institution when your program is so diverse? With 600 concerts, 300 club nights, films, festivals and exhibitions each year, the range &#8211; and target audiences &#8211; seems endless. Yet over the past decade, this Amsterdam cultural icon, emerged from the squatting movement, has successfully claimed a distinct position as the most inclusive pop venue in the Netherlands – a safe haven where young people can explore and discover their identity.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>After more than a decade of collaboration with Norday, the new positioning is firmly embedded in everything the Melkweg does. As a place where urban, queer, pop and underground culture come together, the venue welcomes both emerging talent and established names. This vision has been integrated into every aspect of the organisation: from a refreshed visual identity and logo to a clear manifesto and code of conduct for employees. The customer journey has been optimised with thoughtful signage, narrowcasting and the website. By engaging different target groups through dedicated social media channels, newsletters and personalised web pages, the Melkweg reaches exactly the right visitors with the right content.</p>


MooiNL

The face of spatial planning

<h3>Challenge</h3>
<p>The Netherlands faces complex spatial issues: from housing construction to nitrogen problems. The Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning&#8217;s Mooi NL programme addresses these challenges. The task: develop a visual identity that conveys both authority and openness, works within government branding guidelines and remains flexible enough to engage diverse audiences &#8211; from government partners to the general public. Moreover, all this had to be foolproof to be applied by many civil servants.</p>
<h3>Result</h3>
<p>We developed a sustainable design system centred on movement and progress. The system is adaptable across various project phases, blending authority with accessibility and ensuring correct application by all users. The new identity simplifies complex matters and fosters optimism among all parties involved &#8211; crucial for a programme aimed at making the Netherlands future-proof.</p>

Making Dutch science accessible

<div class="work-info__intro-text">The Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences is the forum, voice and conscience of science in the Netherlands. Its institutes rank among the (inter)national top with their research and collections. The KNAW serves a variety of target groups through knaw.nl, events, the institutes&#8217; websites, advice, research and webinars: scientists, administrators, policymakers, employees, the press and citizens. The underlying platform is content-heavy and has many user stories. The question was a future-proof approach to unlock all types of content and activities through optimal customer journeys.</div>

<p class="work-info__result-title">The new platform is the accessible hub for knowledge sharing, knowledge development and connection with society. The KNAW website brings together a restyling, improved layout and management of content, in line with the various target groups and the strategic ambitions of the KNAW. The new information structure ensures better performance of the content. There are more sessions per day, the bounce rate has decreased and engagement has increased because users can find what they are looking for.</p>
